Tornado Hits Lime Lake, April 1974

The Lynford Munsell Farm on the Northeast corner of Lime Lake

  The Lynford Munsell farm on the Northeast corner of Lime Lake five miles south of Hudson was hit by the Wednesday evening twister as were two unoccupied cottages on the lake which were completely destroyed.  One had originally been built by Irvin Cashel and the other was the Tuttle cottage.  Mr. Munsell and his brother, Cletus, were at home and just got into the basement when the tornado struck.  All windows of the house were blown out and furnishings were strewn throughout the interior.  Both the front and back porches were ripped off as well as portions of the roof.  Buildings on the farm went down but livestock with the exception of a calf and pony which were killed escaped unharmed.  Cleanup crews assisted at the farm and nearby areas Sunday with demolished buildings burned.  Assisting were Waldron VFW and firemen as well as Red Cross and Salvation Army workers.  {Photo and Story from the Hudson Post Gazette, Hudson Michigan}
